Right words at the right time

The words in questions were "But I've seen pretty many people with cats on the leash" applied by my father after a discussion about the cat, the dog and how to make them friends under some control, when I said that taking the cat out tied with a piece of string so that she wouldn't immediately run away wouldn't be a bad idea and mom claimed that only idiots walk their cats on the leash.
Now, I'm officially allowed to take the cat out on the leash in the neighbourhood but only when the parents are not around to witness this silly activity, meaning that the Meezer will be allowed out to her heart's content (to murder any small moving things, I must add; now she's the most vicious spider murderer and she keeps an eye on the rooks nesting in the shrubbery. No worries, she cannot climb).

Rainbow

On Saturday in the evening the kitties arrived. In fact they suck big time, they fight, one of them pees on the carpet (luckily no-one needs the room..I'll have to clean it all when she gives in and starts to use the sandbox regularly, she knows what is it good for but just doesn't use it consistently) , Tähti is pissed off and pretty annoying, now she lies on my hands and effect
ively prevents me from typing. She is responsible for the weird typos.
The silk sweater had a bad fate. It smelled when wet so mom washed it at 90 degrees and the result was something very wide and very short. So I dyed it in rainbow coloured stripes and then I spent the whole evening ripping it and making into two separate skeins (it was knit double), they will go to etsy and since it's recycled yarn, part of the revenue will go to the kitties as charity. And the good thing is that it's already boiled so it won't shrink anymore:-)
The colours are really wonderful but it's quite apparent that the thing had no shape. Well, the skeins are wonderful but I didn't feel like reusing them myself. I believe someone will adore them, this silk isn't the glossy sort but it's still soft and warm and nice to touch.

Finally!

I have the USB cable. So I can not only make pics but also show them. And make my blog colourful and interesting and crap.
So, let me introduce you Siri. One of the shelter kitties. She now lives under my bed. Then there's Dellie behind the fridge and Dahlia somewhere around (or what the hell their names are and which is which). And.... Siri is a yarn thief. I'll have to cover my stash box - I bought that thing in Ikea quite a few months ago but for whatever the reason I didn't assemble it and I kept my yarn in bags and boxes. Now it's all in this box, decoratively arranged and.. accessible.
I was to a knitting workshop on Saturday. To see people, to learn entrelac (didn't finish that sample), to boast with my handpaints - on Friday I dyed some angora, for example, and definitely not to buy any yarn, I have lots of it. So I got this:

The gray one is the silk yarn... I put my silk sweater in a knitting contest and won the yarn used for the product and I gathered it at the ocassion since the lady who organized the workshop owns an internet store.... and the dark stuff is helluva expensive mohair blend which I saw on the website and I thiught that it might be interesting weren't it that expensive. It looks sort of muddy on the pics but it is speckled in blue and purple and orange and gray-green and it's lovely. And expensive. I spent all money I took with me just in case I met something irresistible. Bad, bad me.
The workshop took place in a local cultural centre or what the hell it was and one of the rooms looked..... you know, it was full of packs of yarn. So I simply got poisoned by wool fumes. I couldn't do anything about it, you see, it was an accident. So now I have not 30 but 30.5 kilos of yarn and I'm not eating until the end of the month.
The workshop was cool. Not that I hadn't known that there's many knitters somewhere around but I hadn't met any. It felt nice there. It's always nice to be in company of people who share the same obsession.

I hope someone up there is adding all that for me.

Yesterday evening I came home after showing the foreign students around the Museum of Applied Arts (there was the usual chaos, the meeting point was at the faculty, the museum is literally next door so some clever guys were waiting at the National Museum which is a different institution somewhere else) and wanted to feed the tabby as usual. He looked quite normal, regarding the illness. He refused to drink and then he died. I was pissed off. I spent a week nursing, cleaning after him and he just died. To calm my nerves I grabbed the rubbish and the earthly remains of he poor kitten to throw it all away and then had a useless and boring walk in Tesco where I bought some more food. I'm always buying food and my kitchen is crammed with whatever - I realized that there's already quite a lot of frozen vegetables in the freezer....
Today I cleaned up most of the traces in the kitchen, disinfected the kitty carrier where he used to spend most of his time and now I should go back to normal work, thesis and stuff. I dyed some yarn instead.

...[all invention gone]

Tabby is still sick. The washing machine is badly fixed or what so it leaked, I had water all oved but.. i needed to clean up anyway so when I got rid of the worst puddles, I just sprinkled some disinfection all over. And let some air in so now the place smells of the thingie for cleaning toilets and not like cat poo. The plumber will come next week, some other things are needed.. but meantime I'll have accumulated a large heap of filthy towels.. I need to wrap the little one into something and as he has diarrhoea and is too weak to clean himself... at least the medicinal carbon makes the poo stylishly black and it the smell gets absorbed, otherwise it would be like a bad compost in here.
Enough cat shit. I went to meet some Hospitality Club guys and after half a year I spoke Italian again and it went a bit tough. I should read more... after all, I promised it to Giulia.
I have no ideas. No brain cells either, seems.

Anniversary post

The tabby boy likes me. I took him out of the bathroom and he was sitting in my lap, after a while he stopped trembling and just enjoyed.
I discovered that he was full of fleas. So to morrow I'll be spraying the house with insecticides and I have to do something about the cats too, I'd let the striped one to the flat - he seems ok.
The red one.. she doesn't look danterous, maybe she was surprised by the flash but she's a real devil. And the calico one is scared.
That's it.

Knee deep in kittens

They're actually only three. One big scared tabby, one calico, smaller and scared, and a tiny red wrathful devil. She bit my finger, now she's in hiding between the washing machine and the wall and her look says clearly Wait when I'm bigger, I'll bite your ears off.
I offered my humble help to one of the local shelters and went to introduce myself and stuff. To my surprise, a girl who looked like 13 came to open but as I was told later, she studies veterinary medicine and spends her weekend catching cats, organizing the cat-sitters and stuff. I took it a bit easy, I even didn't take the kitty carrier with me. She then gave me the three little ones to tame, lent me a shelter carrier (as soon as they go out, I'll scrub it in hot water) and off I was sent.
The kitties are in the bathroom and look unfriendly....

Meow.

I went to see the little brothers and sisters (or cousins or what) of Tähti. I'm too tired to write soemthing witty, maybe I'll add some rants later, but here's the pics. There are five little ones and a bigger one with their respective mothers. The little pointed (i' e. with brown nose) is still available and it's a boy, if I remember well:-)

Cat hair everywhere

Tähti is shedding, that's it. So I still eat cat hair, drink cat hair, bathe in cat hair, sleep in cat hair, walk on cat hair.... She is also swinging on the curtains and destroying my innocent defenseless carpet from the Ikea sale. And mom is coming the next week. I think she doesn't know about my cat. Well, in fact she should know because I mentioned her, Tähti, I mean, on the now disused blog she used to read. Mom will be screaming and I don't care a damn, to tell the truth. After all, I'm nearly thirty and it's nice from her that she banned me from having cats and dating Finns (I'll write about this later. Meantime you can tell me whether you feel this idiotic or racist.) but I live my own life, go live yours yourself, thank you.
I made tiramisu yesterday. Not that I would plan it. I planned to go on diet. But... I and Kirsi went shopping together and it just came to my mind that well, I could make it. And sort of thought aloud whether to make the 18 portions baking tray or just some normal amount. Then rethought the concept, because the normal amount is 24 portions baking tray, which gets easily eaten by five people in one evening. As a result, this week I'm getting no thinner, I'll live on tiramisu and ribollita.
And, the most important domestic matter of this week, I have a computer. Some two weeks ago I bumped to a friend, we cursed the school comps together and I just said that I needed an office to keep my papers spread around and things... and he just said Oh, you don't have a comp at home? I can lend you mine.. and a few days later he just brought it to my place. Mmo will be pissed off - what would people think, that she isn't able to buy a computer for her daughter or something? - but.. well, she's always pissed off when I show some independence. So, I'll call to the cable provider and get the Internet connection and then I'll have no reason to go out but to throw out the rubbish.
